The three tiers do not arrive together. Green leaf and citrus are the lightest molecules in the blend, so they read within the first few minutes and fade fastest. Jasmine and the white florals hold through the middle of a burn. Musk and soft wood are the heaviest, and they are what you notice still in the room an hour after the flame is out. Natural wax blends also carry scent more gently than synthetic waxes, so this is a candle you smell in the room you are in rather than two rooms away.

Make The Most Of Your Candle
Most of getting this right happens in the first burn, before you have even sat down with it.
- Trim the cotton wick back to about 5mm before every single burn
- On the first burn, give it long enough for the melted wax to reach the glass all the way round

Treat it like a small open flame, because that is what it is. Burn it on a level, heat-resistant surface, well away from curtains, paper, fans, open windows and anything else that catches. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, and never leave it burning in an empty room, including for a two-minute errand. Do not run it for more than three to four hours at a stretch — beyond that the glass gets genuinely hot near the base, and the wax pool starts to overheat. Keep the pool clear of trimmed wick ends and spent matchsticks, both of which will catch. Stop using the candle once roughly 1cm of wax is left at the bottom, rather than burning it dry; the last centimetre is where the flame sits closest to the glass. Let the wax cool and set completely before you pick the jar up, move it or light it again.

About This Candle
What this actually is
A 65mm x 60mm glass jar of coconut and soy wax with a single cotton wick, scented as a bright white floral. Physically it is about the height of a squat coffee mug and sits inside one open palm. That size is the honest description of what it can do: it scents the room it is standing in.
The wax matters more than people expect. Coconut and soy blends melt at a lower temperature than paraffin, which means a cooler flame, less soot on the inside of the glass, and a scent that lifts gradually instead of arriving all at once. It also means a softer throw. This is a candle you notice when you walk back into the room, not one that meets you at the door.
The scent story
Top: green leaves and citrus. That is the first thing off the wax, sharp and cool and slightly bitter at the edge, the smell of leaves after the sun has gone off them. It is also the fastest to go — light molecules leave first, and within twenty minutes the green has stepped back.
Heart: jasmine and white florals. This is the body of the candle and where it spends most of a burn. Indian jasmine is a heavy flower on the plant but it is handled lightly here, kept green rather than sweetened, so it reads as a garden at dusk instead of a garland.
Base: musk and soft woods. The heaviest part of the blend, barely there at the start, and the only part still in the room an hour after the flame is out. It is what keeps the floral from feeling thin.
How to burn it well
Trim the wick to about 5mm before every burn. An untrimmed wick gives a tall flame, a mushroomed tip, soot on the glass and a jar that empties faster than it should.
The first burn is the one that counts. Wax sets a memory of its first melt pool, so let that first light run until the liquid wax touches the glass all the way round. Do that once and the candle burns level for the rest of its life. Skip it and you get a narrow tunnel with a wall of wasted wax around it.
After that: level heat-resistant surface, no drafts, three to four hours maximum in a sitting, and put it out with the cap or a snuffer rather than blowing hard across a full pool of hot wax.
Who it suits
Anyone who wants floral without the weight — this is a fresh, green-edged jasmine rather than a rich attar-style one. It works in a bedroom, a PG or hostel room, a WFH corner, a balcony on a still evening, and on a table where people are eating, because it does not fight food.
It also suits people who have been put off candles by heavier scents, or by the kind that give you a headache in a closed room. Kept to a sensible session length, this one stays in the background.
Who it does not suit
If you want warm, spiced and cosy — the smell of a kitchen mid-chai, cardamom and clove and something on the stove — this is the wrong end of the range. Buy Evening Chai instead.
If you want cold, dark and woody, the resin-and-sandalwood register of an early morning under trees, go to Ancient Forest. And if you want floral but richer and deeper, with rose and oud rather than jasmine and green leaf, Jaipur Gardens is the closer match.
One honest limitation
A 65mm jar with one wick will not scent a large open-plan living room, and no amount of burning it longer will change that. In a big space you will smell it within a metre or two of where it stands and very little beyond. If you want scent across a hall, you need more than one jar placed apart, and even then a natural wax blend will read gently. That is the wax doing what natural wax does, not a fault in the candle.
Storage and safety
Screw the metal cap on between burns and keep the jar somewhere cool and dark — not on a sunny sill, which softens the top layer of wax and dulls the scent. Keep the wax pool free of trimmed wick ends and used matchsticks; both will catch and burn.
Never leave it lit in an empty room. Keep it away from children, pets, curtains, paper and fans. Stop burning once about 1cm of wax remains at the base — that last centimetre puts the flame close enough to the glass to overheat it. Let the jar cool completely before you move it, clean it or light it again.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours does one jar give me?
We do not print an hours figure, because we have not run a documented burn test on this candle and we would rather leave the number off the page than guess at it. What we can tell you is the size: a 65mm x 60mm glass jar with a single cotton wick.
How long yours lasts is mostly down to how you burn it. Trimmed wick, three to four hour sessions, no draft — that is the slow way through a jar. A long wick near an open window will get you through it noticeably faster.
Is the wax actually natural, or is that just a word on the label?
It is a coconut and soy wax blend with a cotton wick that has no lead core. That is the whole build — no paraffin in it.
Worth knowing what that trade-off buys and costs. Natural wax blends generally burn cooler and cleaner than paraffin, with less soot on the glass. They also carry scent more softly, so this will not announce itself from the next room the way a synthetic-wax candle does.
Can I burn it in a small closed room?
Yes, and in a small room it works better than in a large one — a jar this size is sized for a bedroom, a hostel room or a study corner rather than a hall.
Closed is the part to watch. Leave a window or door slightly open for some air movement, keep it well away from the bed and any curtain, and stick to the three-to-four-hour limit. A flame in a sealed room with no airflow burns dirtier and sooner or later marks the glass.
Will it tunnel down the middle?
Only if the first burn is cut short. Wax sets a memory of its first melt pool, and if that first pool stops an inch short of the glass, every burn after it follows the same narrow ring and leaves a wall of unused wax behind.
So give the first light enough time for the wax to reach the edge of the glass all the way round, and trim the wick before every burn after that. If a ring has already formed, a longer burn will sometimes even it back out, but it is much easier to get the first one right.
Can I keep the jar afterwards?
That is the intention — clear glass with a metal screw cap, so it works afterwards for hair clips, loose change, spice, or a stub of a pencil pot.
To clean it, stop at roughly 1cm of wax rather than burning to the bottom, let the jar go completely cold, then lift the leftover wax out with a blunt knife and wash the glass in warm soapy water. Do not pour boiling water into a cold jar or scrape at a warm one.
Is it safe to burn around pets?
The honest answer is that the risk with any candle and a pet is the flame and the placement, not the wax. Cats in particular will get onto the surface you have chosen. Burn it somewhere they cannot reach or knock it, never leave it lit in a room you are not in, and keep some airflow going.
We cannot tell you how a specific animal will respond to a specific fragrance — that is a question for your vet, especially with birds, small mammals or an animal with a breathing condition. If your pet leaves the room when it is lit, take the hint and put it out.
Will the scent fade if I leave it unlit for months?
Some softening over a long unlit stretch is normal for any scented candle. Keep the metal cap screwed on between burns and store it somewhere cool and dark — not on a sunny windowsill, and not next to the stove.
